Pedro Emmanuel Navarro Aguilar is a Social Worker passionate about blindness and mental health services for marginalized groups. As an undocumented and blind individual, he deeply understands the challenges faced by those dealing with immigration, blindness, and mental health issues. His goal is to improve access to blind skills and mental health resources for vulnerable populations, such as Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities. He developed Nevada's first Spanish-language independent living skills course for the blind, providing basic training to the Hispanic community. He also co-facilitated a support group for survivors of the UNLV shooting, creating a safe space for healing. To raise awareness about disability, immigration, and mental health, he co-wrote the award-winning documentary "Unseen" (2023), now available for streaming on PBS. His contributions to social work have earned recognition from Nevada Senators Jackie Rosen and Catherine Cortes Masto, as well as The International Rhoda G. Sarnat Award.
