Sofia Robison

A blue gradient background with navy text has “The D-30 Disability Impact List” at the top centered above “2023 Honoree” which is in between two laurels. The words “Sofia Robison, USA” are to the left of a picture of Sophia, which fills the right. Sophia is a light-skinned girl with auburn hair over her shoulders smiling. At the bottom, “Diversability, #D30DisList.” fills the left corner.

Sofia Robison is a 13-year-old with mild cerebral palsy, who is using her voice to reinforce that people with visible physical differences are people first. For the registered nonprofit, WAWOS, she creates two posts weekly: "Tuesday Tip" (featuring an at-home exercise that can improve flexibility, mobility, and endurance) and "Wednesday Wellness" (highlighting themes of mental health, kindness, and inclusion). Her tone is open, authentic, and approachable.

Early in 2023, this young teen was a presenter at the National Charity League Skyline Chapter's Philanthropy Day. She addressed a group of 140+ people, spoke about her cerebral palsy diagnosis, and how she came to be the light that launched the flagship program, WAWOS Wear (free walkercapes made by volunteers and given away for free to pediatric rehab hospitals, physical therapy clinics and kids who use an assistive device). She spoke with poise, candor, and joy.

As a female teen with a visible, physical difference, her advocacy through the nonprofit WAWOS challenges stereotypes and misconceptions around what is possible for kids with disabilities. She shares her love of indoor rock climbing and swimming with neuro-typical peers, juxtaposed with her adaptive ski lessons. This highlights there is not a 'one size fits all' approach for disability inclusion and underscores how real, meaningful change is needed to provide accessibility for all.
