Day Abdulla Mohsin Al-Mohamed is an attorney, author, filmmaker, and policy expert with a decades-long career focused on disability policy. She has written two novels, and her documentary, THE INVALID CORPS, about disabled Civil War soldiers, was licensed to Alaska Airlines and had its broadcast premiere on public television in 2020.
She is currently working on a docu-series, RENEGADES, of role-breaking disabled leaders for American Masters/PBS Digital and is a producer of the feature documentary UNSEEN.
Recently, Day completed her tenure as the White House Director of Disability Policy under President Joe Biden. Her work included specifically uplifting people of color with disabilities, to reinforce the importance of how communities intersect. She was also the Director of Advocacy and Legislative Affairs at the American Council of the Blind and then at the American Psychological Association, working on policies relating to health and healthcare, education, technology accessibility, immigration, racial and ethnic justice, and international affairs.
Currently, Day serves in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at the US Department of Labor (DOL). She designed and led the DOL'S Add Us In initiative to increase the capacity of minority-owned businesses to hire disabled people by working in partnership with local chambers of commerce.
She was named a DOC NYC 2021 Documentary New Leader and was part of the NBC 2022 Original Voices Fellowship class. Outside of her policy work, she is a regular host on Idobi Radio’s Geek Girl Riot, with an audience of 100,000 listeners.
