Secretary, Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, India

Taha Haaziq is a civil servant, accessibility advocate, and disability inclusion leader dedicated to advancing equal opportunities for people with disabilities. As a person who is totally blind, he brings lived experience to his work as Secretary in the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, where he works to strengthen disability rights and promote accessible environments. Taha is also the first visually impaired Rotarian to serve as President of the Rotary Club of Bardez Coastal in Rotary International District 3170. Since June 2024, he has led and supported initiatives including International Purple Fest Goa 2025, accessibility interventions, and the promotion of assistive technology. His work has helped expand access, participation, and opportunities for people with disabilities while challenging stereotypes about what disabled people can achieve. Through public service, community leadership, and advocacy, Taha works to ensure that accessibility is integrated into the systems and spaces that shape everyday life. His contributions have been recognized through national awards and honors celebrating his leadership in accessibility, empowerment, and disability inclusion.
