Chhitup Dorji Lama is a leading disability rights advocate in Nepal and the Founding Executive Director of HEAD Nepal. He is dedicated to advancing inclusive development in remote mountain communities, particularly across education, health, livelihoods, and climate action. In the past year alone, Chhitup launched “Our Voice for Our Rights,” a program elevating human rights in Karnali’s inclusive development. He also led the “Building Inclusive Climate-Resilient Community” initiative, responded to natural disasters like the Til Village landslide, and oversaw the operation of a model inclusive education resource center in one of Nepal’s most isolated districts. His work improves access to education, culture, and essential services for disabled people, while shifting community attitudes and structures toward greater dignity and inclusion. Chhitup received the Nagarik Nayak Award (Citizen Hero Award) in 2022 for his impact on inclusive education and the George Basin University Learning Award in 2015.
