Malebogo Molefhe

A blue gradient background with navy text has “The D-30 Disability Impact List” at the top centered above “2023 Honoree” which is in between two laurels. The words “Malebogo Molefhe, she/her/hers, Botswana” are to the left of a picture of Malebogo, which fills the right. Malebogo is a Black woman wearing a white shirt and speaking into a microphone. At the bottom, “Diversability, #D30DisList.” fills the left corner.

Malebogo Molefhe (She/her/hers)

Gender-based Violence and Disability Rights Advocate

Botswana

Malebogo Molefhe is a gender and disability rights activist who has made a sterling impact on the lives of people with disabilities. She pioneered the first-ever wheel basketball tournament in Botswana which improves their inclusion in parasports. She hosted and facilitated the first disability camps in Botswana, and continues to advocate for disability rights contributing to policy development.

Malebogo is a survivor of violence, and this experience has opened her to the vulnerabilities of people with disabilities who are even at greater risk of violence. She marries her activism against gender-based violence to its intersection with disabilities, sexual and reproductive rights, and conditions such as HIV, especially in rural areas.
In May 2023, Malebogo managed to secure the biggest sponsorship for a tournament that will aid in qualifying for the Paris Paralympics 2024.
