Roslyn Yvette Hurley (she/her/hers)

Special Envoy for the Disabled

Barbados

Despite being diagnosed with cerebral palsy shortly after birth and having some physical limitations, this did not hinder Roslyn’s work for the disabled in Barbados. She volunteered in various institutions for the sick and elderly. It was through volunteerism that Roslyn realized her passion for helping people and realized the need to highlight the cause of the disabled. It was through these efforts that she was recognized, and her work continues today to make an impact.

Roslyn has led the charge during Covid19 Lockdown to ensure that persons with disabilities were not left in situations that would be detrimental to their wellbeing...not only in Barbados but she also supported the disabled in the hurricane devastation recently in St. Vincent.

It was through voluntarism that I realized my passion for helping people and realized the need to highlight the cause of the disabled. My belief is that collectively we can better highlight our need for good accommodation, education, health care, and employment. I strongly believe that the disabled should be made to feel as if they belong through the opportunities, accessibility to services, and infrastructure. As such I have spent my entire life highlighting the cause of the disabled.
