This year’s Black Women’s Equal Pay Day is being observed on Tuesday, August 7th. On that day, at 2:00 - 3:00 pm ET/11:00 am-12:00 noon PT, Equal Pay Today and women's rights, labor and racial justice advocates nationwide will join our Social Media Storm using #BlackWomensEqualPay and #DemandMore. See www.blackwomensequalpayday.org for updates and resources (including graphics).
When compared to White, non-Hispanic men, Black/African American women earn only $.63 (cents) on the $1. This means the typical Black woman must work until August 2018 to be paid what the typical White man was paid at the end of December 2017. Learn more in our Preliminary Toolkit.
We are challenging all who support equal pay for Black women and all women to #DemandMore at work, as a consumer, and at the ballot box.
