CADET, NCAM's New Caption and Description Editing Tool

  • Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library 40 West 20th Street New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

CADET is NCAM's free software for writing captions and descriptions. It runs in any browser and can export captions in file formats commonly used online today by most browsers and stand-alone media players. CADET can also be used to generate audio-description scripts. Once downloaded and installed, CADET does not require an internet connection in order to operate: it runs locally in any Web browser, so users do not need to upload private videos or proprietary content to servers or video-hosting sites in order to create captions.
